On 27 August 2026, Billal Mokhtari, represented the BATTwin project at the closing event of the HunCERTalks IT Security Meetup, Energetika vs. cybersecurity, organised in Budapest by HUN-REN SZTAKI, a BATTwin partner, together with HunCERT.
Billal presented BATTwin results on the cybersecurity and trust challenges of digital twins in battery manufacturing.
Digital twins can improve the efficiency and performance of battery production, but their reliability depends on the integrity of their data and models. If compromised or manipulated, a digital twin used for production scheduling or control could affect real manufacturing operations.
Drawing on BATTwin’s work, Billal presented a multi-level hierarchical approach to securing digital twins, covering system modelling, threat identification, prevention and response planning, and system validation.
The presentation highlighted why cybersecurity and trust must be integrated into digital twin development, as battery manufacturing becomes increasingly connected, automated and data-driven.
The event provided an opportunity to share BATTwin’s work with the cybersecurity community and strengthen the dialogue between battery manufacturing, digitalisation and cybersecurity.
